With the addition of a modification last week, the cost of the ongoing overhaul of the Navy aircraft carrier Enterprise at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding, Newport News, has ballooned by more than $200 million over the original contract. The Navy awarded Northrop Grumman a $13.2 million modification for additional work last week , pushing the estimated cost of the contract to nearly $655 million. When it was announced in April 2008, the contract's value was $453.3 million.
